Weekly Announcements
Children Ministries: St. Paul’s and First Presbyterian are joining together to offer Children & Youth Ministries. On Wednesday afternoons starting on August 18th, First Presbyterian will offer SLAM, a program for all elementary school-age students from 3:30 to 5:30. Games and activities, a snack, music, and a lesson are included with a focus on Serving God, Loving Others & making a Joyful Noise! Drop off and pick up happen at the First Presbyterian Church playground (or Fellowship Hall if it is raining). We are also developing a program for youth; be on the lookout for information about it.
Blessing of the Backpacks: A blessing of the backpacks will take place Sunday, August 15th at 5:00 pm on the front lawn of First Presbyterian Church. We will come together and pray for our students, teachers, and school staff as we head back to the classroom. The kids will get a backpack tag to remind them that they are being prayed for all year long. Students, teachers, and staff are invited, as well as all who love and support them.
Evening Prayer Service: We have had a number of people expressing interest in participating in a weekly prayer service on Wednesday evenings. This service resumed on Wednesday, July 28th at 6:00 pm via Zoom. To join this service please follow the link for Evening Prayer on the St. Paul’s website under Online Worship.
Pandemic: As the number of cases continue to climb throughout our state, the bishop urges caution in all that we do – noting the need to protect the most vulnerable among us, our children under 12 and those who cannot receive vaccinations for medical reasons. Distancing, masks, and online meetings are recommended. We will continue to offer in-person services with masks and distancing, and of course, we will continue to offer services online.
Receiving Communion: Contrary to what many may think, it is less sanitary to dip your wafer in the wine at communion than to drink from the chalice. Please do not dip your wafer into the wine. If you are uncomfortable sharing the common cup you may choose to receive the bread only and you will receive the full spiritual benefit of communion.
Bishop’s Visit Scheduled: The bishop will visit St. Paul’s on December 12th. In preparation for his visit Fr. Jim will offer an inquirers class for anyone interested in learning more about the Episcopal Church, our beliefs, liturgy, structure, and history. This class will serve as preparation for confirmation, reception, and reaffirmation. Please let Fr. Jim know if you would like more information. To register please contact the office or email Fr. Jim. Class times and dates will be determined by participants and will likely be offered through Zoom.
Giving to St. Paul’s: For those attending online there are three ways to give; you may mail your gifts to St. Paul’s, at PO Box 2255, Batesville, AR 72503, make an online contribution by going to our website (stpaulsbatesville.org) and following the link to make an online contribution or you may set up automatic payments through your bank’s Bill Pay service.
