Weekly Announcements

Children’s Ministries:  St. Paul’s and First Presbyterian Church are joining together to offer Children & Youth Ministries. On Wednesday afternoons starting on August 18th, First Presbyterian will offer SLAM, a program for all elementary school-age students from 3:30 to 5:30. Games and activities, a snack, music, and a lesson are included with a focus on Serving God, Loving others And Making a joyful noise! Drop off and pick up happen at the First Presbyterian playground (or Fellowship Hall if it is raining). We are also developing a program for youth; be on the lookout for information about it.

Blessing of the Backpacks:  A blessing of the backpacks will take place this Sunday, August 15th at 5:00 pm on the front lawn of First Presbyterian Church. We will come together and pray for our students, teachers, and school staff as we head back to the classroom. The kids will get a backpack tag to remind them that they are being prayed for all year long. Students, teachers, and staff are invited, as well as all who love and support them.

End-of-Summer Party: In light of the rate of infection in Independence County, we have cancelled our back-to-school celebration. Instead, St. Paul’s and First Presbyterian youth will join together on August, 22nd after 10:30 AM service for an outdoor End-of-Summer Party, complete with water balloons, water volleyball, and hotdogs.

Evening Prayer Service:  Mike Schmidt is leading Evening Prayer each Wednesday evening at 6:00 pm via Zoom.  There is a link on our website to join.

Receiving Communion:  Surprising for many of us, intinction (dipping your communion wafer into the wine) is less sanitary than drinking the wine from the common cup.  So please do not dip your wafer into the wine. If you are uncomfortable sharing the chalice, you may choose to receive the bread only.  You receive the full spiritual benefit of communion when you receive communion in one kind.

Giving to St. Paul’s:  For those attending online there are three ways to give; you may mail your gifts to St. Paul’s, at PO Box 2255, Batesville, AR 72503, make an online contribution by going to our website (stpaulsbatesville.org) and following the link to make an online contribution or you may set up automatic payments through your bank’s Bill Pay service.
